Our transportation service

VeloTixi Züri is a non-profit association and has been offering a transport service to people with permanent mobility impairments in the city of Zurich since July 2022.

The transport service carries out one-way and round trips for adults and minors on wheelchair bikes. The passenger travels with their own wheelchair and does not have to change. Since 2023, we have also been taking into account disabled passengers without wheelchairs through a cooperation with a rickshaw transport service.

VeloTixi is based in Zurich and currently operates four electrically operated three-wheel pedelecs, which are approved for all types of cycle paths. With this, VeloTixi Züri would like to expand the existing offer for people with mobility impairments by the factor "fresh air" - for nature, the experience and the joy.

Bicycles may change but cycling is timeless.

As a rule, we drive on all paths where bicycles are permitted - roads, dedicated bicycle paths, mixed zones and suitable hiking paths. Our vehicles are up to 1.10m wide, which is why we pay attention to road construction peculiarities when planning the route. Our trained drivers drive in a relaxed and focused manner.

We are VeloTixi Züri

Our drivers, dispatchers, project staff and board members are all volunteers. We receive many services from our partners pro bono publico.

Your commitment is based on conviction for a good cause; for self-determined recreation; for perceptible participation in social life; for research into sustainable mobility; for a better Zurich.

Your donation

Your donation provides the fundament for the continuation of our service beyond the founding years.
We want use additional funds to cover deviations from projected budget. Additionally we'd like to expand the geographic scope of the research work. We believe that scientific knowledge can bring about changes in the mobility of people in wheelchairs.
